Participation in the MST
Thank you for participating in the moral sense test. Before you begin, we ask that you read the following important information regarding the test.
This version of the MST is designed specifically for individuals who have received a clinical diagnosis of Aspergers or fall within the autism spectrum. If you do not have such a diagnosis or if you are unsure, please take this alternative version.
The Moral sense test asks you to answer several hypothetical questions. The test is designed in 3 blocks, each taking 5-10 minutes to complete. We encourage you to finish all three blocks, but you may exit the test at any time. Please allow yourself enough time to finish the test without interruption. Please do not discuss the questions with anybody else, or consult any texts or outside material, while you are taking the test. This version of the test is for fluent English speakers only.
Before the test begins we would like you to answer some general background questions. Your answers to these questions, along with your answers to the test questions, are kept strictly confidential. You can read more about the precautions we take to protect your confidentiality in our privacy policy.
The Moral Sense Test requires a web browser equipped with the latest version of Macromedia Flash. Most web users have Flash installed automatically, but if you experience difficulty loading the test, or if you know that you do not have Flash, you can download it.
In addition, if you experience difficulties, please first read the FAQ and then, if your problem is still not resolved, report it.
Important: In taking the MST, you are personally prepared to accept the answers you give even if, upon completion, you find your answers puzzling or disturbing. If you do not accept this responsibility, please do not proceed. Further, in our reporting to you results of any MST test that you take, we will mention possible interpretations that have a basis in research done at Harvard University with more elaborate versions of these tests. However, Harvard University, as well as the individual researchers who have contributed to this site, make no claim for the validity of these suggested interpretations. If you are unprepared to encounter interpretations that you might find objectionable, please do not proceed further.
I am aware of the possibility of encountering personal challenges with my answers to the MST, as well as possible disagreements with the interpretations of my MST by the researchers responsible for this web site. Knowing this, I wish to proceed.
